General Information:
Spearmint is an herbaceous erect perennial plant, belonging to the Labiateae (Lamiaceae) family. It has a creeping rootstock, erect square stem, bright green lance shaped wrinkled leaves with finely toothed edgess, small purplish flowers that grow in long spikes from the axils of the upper leaves. The taste and odor of the plant are very characteristic.

Culinary Uses:
Spearmint Leaf can be used in jelly and salads or added to cooked foods.
To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Spearmint Leaf, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.
Medicinal Uses:
Spearmint is a valuable herb for stopping vomiting during pregnancy. It is gentle enough to use for colic in babies, while aiding in curing colds, flu, and gas. It is known to be remedy for gas, spasms and colic.
