General Information: Powdered stevia leaf is produced from the foliage of a small shrub in the sunflower family that occurs naturally in Paraguay and Brazil and is cultivated in Japan, China and Mexico. The presence of glycosides, especially a class called steviosides, lend the powder a slight licorice-like flavor.
Typical Uses: Powdered stevia powder is used in as an alternative to sugar in beverages, baked goods and other foods. Because it is several hundred times sweeter than regular sugar, only a small amount is needed.
